KICKS
PRE-SCHOOL DANCE CURRICULUM
MINI MOVERS CLASSES
Welcome to the wonderful
world of Dance in early childhood. A world that we as dance teachers
are constantly exploring and developing.
The Kicks Daytime Curriculum philosophy is to learn through movement,
education and to develop the children's creativity and thought processes
by encouraging them to use their bodies and minds.
Our Instructors
The dance teachers at Kicks specializing in this program have, most
importantly a special place in their heart for young children. The
combination of this criteria, along with our highly trained teaching
standard, results in a fun environment for the students, which in
turn, fosters a love of dance and movement from an early age.
Our Program
Our Kicks Daytime Curriculum has been carefully developed by the
staff to assure that students not only have fun, but are learning
the very basics of dance without them even being aware of the technical
side being developed. We incorporate the following into our program.
- • Dance and Movement
Development
- • Gain basic technical
knowledge preparing students for normal stream classes once they
reach school age
- • Tap Dancing lessons
offered for basic technique and rhythm skills
- • Instrument sounds
and rhythms
- • Musical improvisation
- • Musical games
and imagery
- • Recognising musical
notations
- • Singing in tune
and keep time with the music
Each lesson our children
enter the world of make believe. It is their special time to be
who they wish to be. We encourage the students to wear whatever
they desire, day wear, dance leotards, assorted costumes and fairy
dress ups, or their prettiest dress. This is their day to pretty
themselves up and enter a special world. The last day of term, parents
are invited into class to take photos and watch their child’s
achievements.
We use props and accessories appropriate to the theme of each lesson.
Every child goes home with our weekly activity sheet to colour in
which encourages parent/child interaction.
