Phil Coleman's Web SiteThe Battiwallah 3.5cc diesel engine |
This engine was described in "Model Engineer" in April 1947. The designer called himself "Battiwallah", but we don't know his real name.
It is a very old design, 3.5cc with three-port induction and a long stroke, but it works very well. It starts easily and has plenty of torque at a fairly low speed.
I made the crankcase out of solid aluminium.
Plans and a casting for this engine are available from E & J Winter (Australia). plan "IC9".
