Aftermarket eTrex Connections

If you can't find something similar to my phone charger, there are aftermarket plugs. Garmin actually sell the cable on its own (US$23), or with a serial plug ($38). If you cant be bothered trying to make a plug, you may wish to purchase one from Garmin.

Genuine Garmin Data Cable (bare data wires)

This data cable has bare wires at the end so you can hard wire your GPS directly to another electronic device. Data cable doesn't have power — you'll have to run off your unit's batteries.

Approx US$25

Genuine Garmin PC interface cable (RS232 serial port connector)

Cable features a standard 9-pin D connector. Does not provide wiring for external power.

Approx US$40

Eplug for the eTrex and eSummit

Quote from Larry's site

"Garmin does not make a U-install type plug for their new eTrex or eMap GPS's so if you want one, you have to, um, make your own! So I made my own and will send one or two to you if you want. I call my version: ePlug. I think $15 for 2 delivered to your door is a great deal! But you will decide -- after you get them! If disappointed, send less. If, on the other hand, our Pfranc service exceeds your expectation, feel free to send more! Click on this link here to find your Pfranc., and here to see how to assemble my plug and make a cable." - Larry
